Nanticoke, Pennsylvania
Director of Technology at NEPIRC, the manufacturing resource center for northeastern Pennsylvania. Fifteen years of networking and IT come with the title: network engineering, VoIP, and the networking practice at Cleverfish, then the information systems, security, disaster recovery, and AI policy I direct now. Cybersecurity is part of the job. I do NIST 800-171 and CMMC 2.0 gap analyses for manufacturers, I did the cybersecurity hardening and controls for a regional credit union at Cleverfish, and I wrote the remote-work standard used by more than 1,800 Pennsylvania companies. AI gets the same weight. I direct the policy, run local models, and build tools that call provider APIs. I also build the systems NEPIRC uses every day: Salesforce, federal expense reporting, the KPI and budget dashboards, and proposals in Conga.
Experience
NEPIRC
Northeastern Pennsylvania Industrial Resource Center
Director of Technology
November 2021 – Present
- Direct NEPIRC’s information systems, security, disaster recovery, and AI policy.
- Write the grant narratives and the closeout reports, and maintain the CRM bridge between NEPIRC and Pennsylvania DCED.
- Ran NEPIRC’s NIST Supplier Scouting initiative, funded by a federal grant: industry trend data, and matching Pennsylvania manufacturers with domestic suppliers.
- Keep NEPIRC’s Salesforce org fit for the operation, including the expense and mileage object that federal reporting runs through.
- Appointed by a vote of the board with approval authority over NEPIRC’s organization-wide credit-card spending and invoices.
- Built the KPI, budget-versus-actual, pipeline, and sales-forecast dashboards, with year-over-year and month-over-month views for project managers and business advisors.
- Selected Conga for proposals, set it up, and trained the staff. That took the manual work and the errors out of the proposal process.
- Conduct NIST 800-171 and CMMC 2.0 gap analyses for regional manufacturers, and report the findings.
- Report every project NEPIRC completes each quarter into MEIS, for the state and for the federal Manufacturing Extension Partnership. Schedule the client impact surveys and conduct the meetings through the Fors Marsh portal, explaining each project so the impact of those taxpayer dollars is reported fully and accurately.
- Since May 2025, when the marketing manager left, stand in for marketing management on events and trainings.
- Run Manufacturing Day, NEPIRC’s largest event, at more than 300 attendees and 100 exhibitors.
- Run every part of NEPIRC’s first Advanced Technology and AI Summit: program, speakers, sponsors, exhibitors, ticketing, and the event day.
- Launched and host the Manufacturing Matters podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube, and appear on television and radio on manufacturing and AI on the factory floor.
Manager of Information Systems and Innovation and Technology Lab Coordinator
July 2017 – November 2021
- Moved NEPIRC off SalesLogix and onto Salesforce: design, build, customization, rollout, and staff training.
- Designed and stood up NEPIRC’s Innovation and Technology Lab.
- Wrote and taught a three-day SOLIDWORKS Basics course for manufacturers who needed an introductory step before Essentials.
- Wrote the remote-work security and operating standards used by more than 1,800 Pennsylvania companies during COVID-19. The International Economic Development Council recognized the work nationally.
Manager of Information Systems
July 2015 – July 2017
- Oversaw NEPIRC’s IT and cybersecurity, including system administration, and designed and built the NEPIRC website on WordPress.
- Ran the federal and state quarterly reporting: economic impact metrics, grant narratives, and custom reports for lobbying.
- Served on the KC3D advisory board for the rollout of the Keystone College 3D Lab.
Cleverfish
Pennsylvania
Director of Networking
June 2013 – July 2015
- Led the networking practice, including billable KPIs for the team and project management on every implementation.
- Scoped, budgeted and assigned the work according to each engineer’s capability and workload.
- Led the technical interview process for new engineers.
- Handled the higher-complexity projects, including cybersecurity hardening and controls for a regional credit union.
Director of VoIP Integration
April 2012 – June 2013
- Delivered every VoIP solution the company sold, from code and configuration through implementation, training, and support.
Network Engineer
May 2011 – April 2012
- Handled the engineering across client networks and servers: Cisco ASA routers and switches, VPN profiles, SQL and PostgreSQL databases, and Microsoft system administration.
Geisinger
Scranton, Pennsylvania
Systems Analyst
March 2010 – April 2011
- Configured, customized and taught Epic EMR through the Scranton CMC acquisition.
Independent work
- Built spill, an open-source harness. A cheap model runs the session. If it loops, stalls, or dies, spill drops that attempt and a frontier model starts from the original question.
- Run local AI models on a Proxmox host. Built a Linux app that tracks token usage across AI providers through their APIs.
- Publish Linux tools on GitHub: laptop TDP and lighting control in the spirit of G-Helper, and a custom Quickshell bar.
- Self-host DNS, VPN, a reverse proxy, backups, file and photo storage, a password vault, and the automation between them.
- Host and manage the digital signage that local establishments run their menus and events on.
Selected work
spill github.com/randallyash/spillover
Tries a cheaper model first, and only sends that turn to a frontier model if the first attempt fails. The failed answer is dropped. The next model starts from the original question.
Z13 Power github.com/randallyash/rog-z13-power-management
Power, lighting, and thermals for the 2025 ASUS ROG Flow Z13, in one Linux service. Profiles follow the plug, the battery, and the hinge. It replaces Armory Crate.
Omarchy bar github.com/randallyash/ramzal-omarchybar
A Quickshell status bar for an Omarchy desktop: workspaces, media, weather, mail, and a live read of token usage across AI providers.
Hardlight github.com/randallyash/omarchy-hardlight-theme
An Omarchy theme: magenta chassis light, phosphor-green ink, a cyan HUD, and its own wallpapers.
Hearthgrove github.com/randallyash/omarchy-hearthgrove-theme
A dark Omarchy theme: charcoal pine, a brass lamp for the accent, and four painterly forest wallpapers.
GuildSync Companion github.com/randallyash/guildsync-companion-windows
A tray app that uploads GuildSync saved data to twilighttavern.co. Packaged for Windows, Apple silicon, and Arch.
